Employability as a Strategy for Seeking Meaningful Employment (Registration required)
Feedback form is now closed.

Employability has traditionally been presented as a set of skills that contribute to one’s attractiveness to employers (such as personal management and teamwork). While skills are still necessary, more recently employability has been described as a psycho-social construct that can be used to find work (more closely related to attitudes and values that include curiosity and the development of perspective). For the sake of this workshop, we will consider the attributes that make a young person worth employing, based on how well their learning matches what the labour market needs.

Over the course of this three-hour workshop we will:

  • Consider some of the myths that exist about employability
  • Focus on the job-seeker attributes that contribute to strategic employability
  • Consider methods by which these attributes and soft-skills might be developed
